In Love And Stuff

In Love And Stuff

Nicole Murphy spoke to People recently about her relationship with New York Giants football player Michael Strahan. Here’s the sugary, sweet stuff.

When I got divorced, I said never again,” Nicole Murphy told PEOPLE at a Feb. 16 south Florida fundraiser for the John T. Petters Foundation, a charity that provides scholarships for students to travel abroad. “But some time has passed since Eddie and I split, and I know now what I want in a man: communication and shared interests. Michael and talk about everything, and we both love to travel, explore and laugh.”

Murphy was married for about two decades, and while she admits they disagreed on many issues, she still considers her ex-husband to be a good man.

“Eddie is a wonderful person and a good father,” she continues. “But we obviously had problems in the marriage. I tell my friends that opposites may attract but that kind of early excitement doesn’t last. Find someone who shares your passions and interests.”

After dating for nearly 10 months, Murphy and Strahan, who were all over each other at the three-day event – and slept so late on Saturday that they missed an afternoon polo match in Wellington – definitely have shared passions.

“We are going to Africa next month,” she says. “We love to see new things and always have a great time together.” [source]

I just let out one hell of a yawn after reading all of this. I’m all for Black love but I can really care less. Fantasia and Young Dro are the flavor of the month right now!

Hood Love

Hood Love

Sandra Rose had the opportunity to speak with Keyshia Cole and Young Jeezy earlier this week about the rumors surrounding their relationship. I wonder if he helps her grease her scalp while sippin’ on yak [copyright Plies].

Both Keyshia and Jeezy denied any knowledge of the other woman who claims to be Jeezy’s longtime girlfriend. “Me and Jay spend everyday together except when we’re on the road,” said Keyshia.

Jeezy denied saying he and Keyshia were not together anymore. “We’re not tripping,” said Jeezy, “but when we hear things like that, it’s just crazy. Why would I have a conversation about anything personal with a random person in the club?”

Keyshia added, “I would like for you to let [your readers] know that that was false information. That was never said. We are keeping our business our business. It is what it is. When we’re seen they know what it is. At the end of the day, we’re just focused on our careers right now but at the same time, I’m not saying I’m not with him and he’s not saying he’s not with me. So he didn’t say that.”

That’s nice and all but I am still more focused on Frankie finding a real man. A fresh pair of dentures always equal a new outlook on love. Or so I’ve been told.

When Harry Met Sally

When Harry Met Sally

Aww shucks, look at what we have here. A match made in remedial heaven! Young Dro and Fantasia were spotted bagging up plenty of swag at the Grammy style studio earlier today. I guess those relationship rumors may just hold an ounce of truth.

I hope they do an Essence cover story together. I’m trippin’, this love affair has Sister 2 Sister written all over it.

I’m not trying to put any pressure on these two but when is the wedding? Forget a toaster, I saw a dope see n’ say at K-Mart last week that would make for the perfect newlywed gift.

Now Tasie Mae, about that hair . . .

I’m going to have to vote no.

Star Tracks: Janet + Jermaine

Your favorite midget couple and mine were spotted in Sin City over the weekend partying at Club Prive for about an hour or so. Ms. Jackson enjoyed champagne while her man guzzled down Red Bull as he rocked the party.

Gotta love JD’s shirt. I want one with Bobby Brown my damn self.

Don’t make that face, baby.

They’re In Love, Ya’ll

They’re In Love, Ya’ll

Kimono and Digimon spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about their courtship and unconventional love affair. I don’t know why these two didn’t holla at Jamie Foster Brown for a Sister 2 Sister EXCLUSIVE cover story. You know the couples who land on that coveted cover always last. Read the entire article at the mag’s website.

I mean, they aren’t Dr. Dre and Michel’le or anything but I guess they are cute together.

Article excerpt after the jump.

This is all a way of getting at the fact that Kimora was not looking for a relationship when she ran into the West African-born fashion model turned Oscar-nominated actor turned Calvin Klein model Djimon Hounsou in L.A. last February. He had just been nominated for his role as an enslaved African fisherman in Blood Diamond.

“When you’re not looking, that’s when it happens,” Kimora says with such authority that, though many people have said so before, it seems true only when it comes out of her mouth. “And I have a lot of hang-ups in life with men. I’m not very trusting,” she says enigmatically. “Rightfully so. Read between the lines.”

So Kimora gave Djimon her number. “I’m very good at exchanging numbers with people for business, and that’s what I did,” Kimora recalls. “He said, ‘Are you really going to use that number, or are you going to use it for business?’ That made me think, Oh.” Her eyes dance.

A few days later, Djimon texted her; she called him immediately. “I’m so over that new thing of talking to everyone on the pager,” Kimora says. “I’m much more into old-world, intimate conversations on the phone. I like to write letters.”

My Heart Goes Out To Johnny

My Heart Goes Out To Johnny

People magazine has the first photo of Donkey and Tracey Edmonds on their wedding day. Aww, don’t they look lovely.

The couple wed on a private island off Bora Bora in French Polynesia in front of 25 friends and family on Tuesday, a spokesman has confirmed to People.com.

Murphy, 46, wore a cream suit and vest with an off-white handkerchief while Edmonds, 40, walked barefoot down the aisle to Gladys Knight’s “Makings of You.”
The couple — who have been dating since Autumn 2006 — wed under a gazebo on a special man-made beach constructed of 6,000 shells.

After the ceremony, Edmonds gave each of her bridesmaids gold and diamond earrings while Murphy gave his groomsmen designer watches. [source]

Insert joke about what Eddie gave best man Johnny Gill later on at the hotel riiiight [here]

The Newlywed Game

Tameka & Usher in Miami yesterday
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (take your pick) had a lot to say in their November cover story with Essence magazine. Excerpt below. Ole!

Usher on how the media and bloggers reacted negatively to the news of his engagement to Tameka Foster:
“It was like, wow. (Getting married) and having a child is something that everyone should celebrate. What’s happened to us as a culture and a people? I’m not ignorant, so I’m not going to go out there and lash out….”

Usher on how he and Tameka have stayed strong:
“Ours is not a typical love story, but it is a true one. Tameka and I have been fortunate enough to go through the thick of it in the beginning. We’ve had that opportunity to huddle up as a team, to make sure that we’re clear and speak as one voice.”

Tameka on when she knew to trust her instincts, instead of her girlfriends, about starting a relationship with her future husband:
“Thank God I didn’t listen to my girlfriends…. Usher was my road dawg. I’d seen him love, and I’d watched him date women who were not worthy of him. He was so sweet, going out of his way to cater to their every need. And I’d see them not even be grateful.”

Usher on what he’s learned about becoming a father:
“Tameka’s given me one of the greatest gifts I’ll ever have. With a child, now I have purpose. I understand love.”

Tameka on falling for her husband:
“I feel totally uninhibited with Usher. I’ve never been in a situation with anyone, even as far back as high school, where there were no secrets. I know I can tell him anything and he’s not going to judge me. I can finally share my dreams. And because of that, I know that man loves me.”

T.I. & Tiny outside Koi restauant in West Hollywood

Clifford and Tameka are my favorite couple (right behind Aretha Franklin and Willie “Catfish” Wilkerson of course). That’s why I don’t understand why he tries to flex on her during tax season every year. C’mon now! He should go ahead and make her an honest woman already. Hell, ya’ll already have a litter of kids together so what’s really the hold up, Cliff?

Awww, Isn’t That Special

Awww, Isn’t That Special

Chocolate Homer Simpson got inked up with a tattoo of wife Rachel Roy on his forearm this past Friday. He has commented in the past that everything he loves in life usually ends up as artwork on his body. I see that roots box Rachel copped from Mama Tina a couple years ago is still in full effect. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jay-Z tatts Beyaki on his face Mike Tyson style a few years from now. That creole ‘tang is something else. Or so I’ve heard.

Well It’s About Time

Well It’s About Time

Layzie Bone popped the question to girlfriend of 13 years Felicia Howse on the red carpet at the premiere of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s first feature film ‘I Tried.’ Layzie got down on bended knee and presented Howse with a 5 karat cushion cut diamond ring before asking her to take his hand in marriage.

They may look like like the met at drug court but there is no denying the chemistry between these two. Unlike some of these rap wifey types I bet it doesn’t take much to make ol’ girl happy. Forget vacationing in Capri! Felicia is good with a RC cola, a bag of pork rinds, and a bike ride around the block.

I can’t wait to see the wedding photos. Bizzy Bone would make a delightful ring bearer.
